To run like you did when you were a kid!

hya all,

its a funny old game ain't it life! (and what a funny old place to start a blog!)

i went for a walk today with my niece, nowhere far away or expensive just a regular walk in the country (city country that is! but green things and ducks were involved)

& well it got me thinking of how special it is

To run like ya did when u were a kid...

how brill it must be,
to run and not know,
or need to know where u r going,
how fab it really was,
to not give a thought to falling down,
or the hurt you may have.
so liberating,
to not care who's watching,
such a joy,
not having a thing that it is that you've got to do,
not having a concept of time,
let alone a need to check how your doing for it.
to run, just for the joy of running itself.
i want to run like i did,
when i was a kid,
or as close to it as i can get
knowing what i know now,
but well, thinking about it,
knowing what i now know,
might make the run even more fun,
knowing what a precious thing that run really is.

Funny ain't it how things just grab u, i just found it to be a really profound moment really, funny as that sounds. just this everyday walk kinda thing.
Memory & our capacity to learn is an important thing, as children it stops us from putting our hand back on the cooker after finding out that it hurt the last time.
But then again in the same way such experiences, as we get older can act to self limit our opportunities and potential for the future and even dampen the present.
So i'm gonna try and give it a go.
& i wanna dedicate this post to me niece for teaching me a great lesson in life (without even realising she's done it!) cheers chicken!

What a brilliantly insightful post Purkul from a brilliantly insightful person. Never limit yourself, not even in your imagination - you're so capable - one of the most capable people I've ever had the honour of meeting.

who would have thought you would both get so much out of a walk in the park. She is still talking about it now, although for different reasons to you purkul, she wants another icecream!
We all rush through life trying to get things done, how wonderful it would be to make time to stop and look at the world through the eyes of children full of mystery, adventure and possibility. How sad we lose that as we grow up.

Hi Purkul-
You know it is appreciating the simple things in life. Taking the time to slow down and value the wonder of things we may have started to take for granted.
The curiosity and wonderment of innocent children can inspire us. Inspire us to seek that 'inner-child', to rekindle our own curios spirit.
In order to try and maintain healthy thinking and behaviour, I try to focus on life's simple pleasures. I find the time.
We do not have to lose this ability when we grow up. I like to embrace and learn new stuff.
We all have that ability. Thanks for a lovely post and continue to keep your mind open to positive possibilities.

What a wonderful and inspiring blog! I often lose sight of the simple pleasures in life as I worry about trying to better myself and get back into work. When you have pressures and worries the fun is often taken out of simple things as our minds are focused on other things and we don't 'live in the moment'. Keep on cultivating this ability, it will be a source of endless fun and pleasure in the years to come! Great to see you at the meal as well, and thanks for your lovely comment on my last blog! Take care, Simon x

What a great post - so full of energy and insight. I guess we would all give much of what we own to have that kind of physical and psychic (you've no idea how much trouble I had spelling that) energy and freedom again. We acquire so many inhibitions as we get older that in building a fortress to keep a dangerous world out, we end up imprisoning ourselves. Thanks and love Txxx

Hi Purkul you have got to enjoy your life and take pleasure in the simple things. A walk in the park with your niece learnt you to see life differently. Myself I Learnt to Make the most of life and appreciate it last year.I came out of hospital with a new perspective on life. I had sufferd so much for years I thought no more and decided to be happy and embrace life. Take care Purkul you are a lovely person and deserve a great life.

In a nutshell Purkul you have described the following....'DANCE' as if no one is watching.
'SING' as if no one is listening.
'LIVE' as if no one is looking.
Now you just go ahead and do it. We can regain that childlike quality...Go for it Purkul! D x
